With Kids Yoga, children are
enthusiastic to learn about the mind and body in an enjoyable approach!
Kids Yoga is an entertaining,
imaginative approach to yoga that can be very helpful for children whose bodies
are still growing. The use of dynamic poses and basic stretching exercises
encourage flexibility, coordination, strength, and body awareness. Breathing and
visualization techniques prepare kids how to focus, develop self-control and
relax.
Kids will improve attention and focus,
encourage their mind and help to release energy in a fun, safe setting. Using
animated postures and interactive games, kids learn about nature, animals, and
anatomy through yoga.
Kids Yoga also promotes inner-strength
and confidence; a feeling of security and respect for themselves and others.
Sessions are a minimum of 45 minutes. For
maximum benefit, please ensure minimum disruption during the session.
Here are a few pictures of a recent
Kids Yoga
class held at Woodman Hills Elementary School (Peyton, CO) in March 2007.

Here are a few students doing Tree Pose
(Vrksasana). They told me they were the candy tree but I don't see any
candy around, maybe they ate some earlier.

Here the class is doing a version of
Side Plank Pose (Vasisthasana) colorfully renamed the Rainbow Pose.

The kids all wanted to sit in Hero's
Pose (Virasana) for 5 minutes (some wanted 10) as they concentrated on breathing
deep and quieting the mind. This young man did an excellent job.

Finally they all got to lay down for
the all important Final Relaxation Pose (Savasana). It was well deserved
and just in time because next was time for recess in the play ground.
