Rodney has been trained in many
different styles of yoga. His training include both Yoga and Mat Pilates styles
and his classes incorporate aspects of the many styles he has been trained in.
Classical Hatha Yoga is the
foundation of all movement based Yoga. This style is a gentle calm of deep
openings to the mind, body and spirit. The Meditative and intentional movement
guides the student into balanced Asanas (postures) through Pranayama (breath)
Power Yoga is a style of Yoga
that is based on strengthening the whole mind, body and spirit awareness. This
dynamic workout consists of a moving series of Asanas (postures) with Pranayama
(breath) that test flexibility and endurance.
Vinyasa Yoga means to flow. This
style of Yoga moves from one Asana (posture) to the next incorporating Pranayama
(breath) and movement. Strength and flexibility are achieved through training
the mind and body in a continuous series of flowing movements that echo one
another. This allows the mind, body and spirit to be comfortable with everyday
movement.
Restorative Yoga heals the
effects of chronic stress with a blend of various Asanas (postures), Pranayama
(breath) and an easy flow of movement. Move toward balance through a
well-designed combination of stimulating and supported postures.
Kripalu Yoga emphasizes on
proper breathing, alignment, coordinating breath and movement, and honoring the
body (going into postures with the limits of your individual flexibility and
strength).
Yogalates is a new hybrid that
combines the best of the worlds of Yoga and Pilates. It incorporates the
flexibility, meditation and weight loss elements of Yoga with the core
strengthening and muscle toning of Pilates. Yogalates is an ideal balance of
body and mind, breathing and movement.
Mat Pilates elongates the
muscles, building strength, joint mobility and flexibility, as well as improving
posture. Pilates provides a more balanced, strong and supple body with
repetition exercises (not just the body's core, (abdomen, lower back and hips)).
Pilates is an excellent complement to a Power Yoga practice.
Yoga-Chi is another new hybrid
that combines Yoga and Tai Chi in one class so that the students get the
benefits of both exercises. Yoga and Tai Chi is the daily exercise of choice for
millions of people all around the world and especially in Asia. It is a low
impact exercise that can be used by people of all ages to improve strength,
balance and coordination. National studies suggest that the elderly may be able
to reduce the risk of falls by practicing this form of exercise. Other benefits
of Yoga and Tai Chi include better circulation, improved energy and injury
rehabilitation.
Iron Yoga is a hybrid that
combines the grace of Yoga and the intensity of strength training with Weights.
It incorporates the flexibility of yoga postures while simultaneously working
out with lightweight hand-held free weights. Iron Yoga is ideal for the
clarity of body and mind, bringing a power focus to yoga.
Aqua Tai-Chi is a form of
meditation in movement and involves gentle and fluid exercises that focus on the
flow of the entire body. Reducing stress and stilling the mind, Tai Chi
brings balance, health and rejuvenation. When Tai Chi is performed in
water, removing gravity, form can be practiced without strain or injury to the
body.
